As in David’s time, God is looking today for people that will serve him not out of obligation or tradition, but out of their desire to worship the Creator. God is looking for heart responses. 1 Samuel 13:14, “…The Lord has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart…” What is a heart response?

A heart response is when the Lord comes to you and you allow His Spirit totally to reside in you and permeate who you are. To allow the Holy Spirit to mold you and shape you—living according to the word of God. This is evident in the life of David as you read through the book of Psalms and see him pour out of his heart, worship. You will see and feel the emotions of a man that completely relied on the Spirit of God for strength, comfort, and direction.

As you walk in the destiny that God has for you and allow the Holy Spirit to direct your journey, you will have not only success but unbelievable success! The Holy Spirit will orchestrate the events of your journey and put you in places that you would have never been able to go on by your own power or your own accord. When David was anointed and he accepted the call that God had for him, it says that the “Spirit came mightily upon David from that day forward”. (1 Samuel 16:13) God wants to pour out His Spirit to you so that you walk in power fulfilling the purpose that God has for you.

David did not have an easy journey to be King. He had to battle lions and bears; kings and giants. David had to flee for his life. People were trying to literally kill him. Some of you are battling things now as David did that make you wonder is this what God has for me? This cannot be my destiny.

These battles if we allow God to work in and through them are what will produce character within us. Just remember, for David these were the training grounds for a journey of destiny that produced one of the greatest kings to every live.
