[well]But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you…[/well]
Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:24-27
“The anointing to lead worship doesn’t come from doing it like someone else. It doesn’t come from good musicianship, vocal ability or a certain musical style. The anointing comes from intimacy with the Father. To be an effective worship leader one has to know the mind and heart of the Father. The only place that is learned is through intimate relationship.”
The Worship Leader
There are five key things that every worship leader should know and do.
1. You Are Anointed
You are anointed with the Spirit which is to equip, reveal truth and bring freedom. It is in this anointing that you help to develop a culture of faith and expectation. People from all walks of life and even circumstances need to change their focus even if their circumstance will not. Songs are a tool that help people change their language.
2. You Have Authority
When you walk on a platform to lead worship you walk in authority. It is authority given you to by Jesus Christ and the Church. Leading worship is about you operating in your authority to lead worship.
3. You Do Not Have To Perform
People are looking for authenticity not a performance. Pure passionate worship doesn’t smell of performance. The fragrance of the anointing covers the smell. The great thing about walking in the anointing and in authority is that there should be no pressure. You don’t have to make things happen.
4. You Must First Be A Worshiper. A Lifestyle of Worship
Worship happens on a spiritual level that goes beyond the mechanics of voice and instruments. You cannot lead others where you have not first been yourself. You must create a lifestyle of worship.
5. As A Worship Leader You Must Encourage Others To Be Worshipers
The encouragement of others does not come from the platform, but from everyday life. Make sure life demonstrates worship and in so love people. You cannot lead people you do not love. And remember, to encourage others you must lead and not push.
