The theory for many companies is pay for a position comes with the expectation that certain performance and production is expected, and that the pay is motivation enough for job satisfaction. This was a prevailing principle or concept in business that has changed. Jobs are no longer just about pay. Statistics are 36% of employees would give up $5000 annual salary to be happy. I have been blessed to work with some amazing companies and had some great managers and leaders, but never did my lack of performance or decreased production come down to a happiness discussion. Happiness, in general, is overlooked when it comes to metrics for production efficiency.
